This one is definitely worth reading if you happen to come across it. I'm loving discovering all these new books courtesy of that box, and I'm now unable to leave a green-spined book behind in a charity shop.

I've read a few Virago Modern Classics but I've never heard of this one. It sounds wonderful. And how exciting that you found a whole box of VMCs! I hope you enjoy them all. :)

Your review popped up in my Google Alerts and after checking out your LibraryThing library, I recognized you from the VMC group there. I'm "lindsacl" on LT. In any case, I enjoyed reading your review. I didn't notice the pronouns when I read this (it was a few years ago), so that's an interesting insight. But I definitely loved the book !
